Colour Conference is in FULL EFFECT! Day One has already begun and the women are coming in expectant for what God is going to do! I am part of the Colour Sisterhood Team, overseeing the volunteers. Colour is a global conference, happening in four different locations: Sydney, Kiev, Cape Town, London & in 2016 NYC. Colour is more than an annual event that gathers thousands of women to bond over a cup of tea, get manicures and enjoy massages. It is an ever growing global movement of everyday women, seeking to create a stance for justice, change and influence.
Our local impact project is the #IWILLWALKWITHYOU campaign which stands against domestic violence. We are selling golden armbands and shoe laces marked “I will walk with you” for those wanting to be a part of the movement. These items identify you to a victim of domestic violence as someone they can confide in and walk the journey with. It’s not about knowing all the answers but being there for them as they move forward. Every 8 hours in South Africa, a woman dies from domestic violence. And God purposed us to be the answer. We can’t do everything, but we must do something. That something is spreading awareness, being a friend and making a difference in the lives of those around us. God is doing something amazing through this movement and it is just the beginning of chains being broken and victims walking into freedom from domestic violence. This is more than a campaign. It’s a movement, a gathering where we do life together.
“All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had.” – Acts 4:32
